WHAT TO DO

FROM OUR SNORKELLING TO OUR OFF-ROADING

Antigua's all about action and adventure too. What better way to experience our natural wonders than to snorkel off our coral reefs or motor through our scenic backwaters? These are just two of the many activities waiting for you outside your hotel...

Our 60-mile coastline is encircled by clear turquoise seas, whether that's the Atlantic in the east or the Caribbean in the west. You can enjoy these waters in any number of ways. Resorts like Hermitage Bay, Carlisle Bay, Jumby Bay Island and Sandals Grande Antigua all offer complimentary non-motorised watersports, with instruction readily available for beginners. Adrenaline-pumping activities like jet skiing and waterskiing are also on offer from our roving beach vendors. Dickenson Bay and Jolly Harbour are both great places to meet up with them.

Antigua’s got quite the flotilla of vessels at your disposal too. Catamaran companies like Wadadli Cats and Tropical Adventures offer anything from snorkelling trips to sunset cruises, while the Barbuda Express and Excellence powerboat can whisk you across to our sister island of Barbuda in 90 minutes flat. With SoCoHo Sea Tours you can kayak through the beauty of the natural mangroves and snorkel off Cades Reef. CocoVibes Tours will introduce you to everything from our secluded beaches to our offshore islands. You can even explore a century-old shipwreck.

Prefer to get up close and personal to Antiguan wildlife? Why not feed our stingrays at the award-winning Stingray City? This fence-less aquatic wonderland with its shallow pool and white sand bottom lies just a 5-minute speedboat ride from shore. And if these gentle southern stingrays aren’t quite enough for you, parrots, iguanas and over fifty Giant Aldabra Tortoises are waiting to meet you on nearby Laviscount Island.

Beneath the waves lies Cades Reef. A snorkelling trip to this 2-mile long coral garden could yield sightings of anything from puffer fish to sea turtles. The PADI diving professionals at Indigo Divers will also be happy to introduce you to a whole raft of equally amazing dive sites, most of them only about a 20-minute boat ride from shore.

Antigua's also got 108 square miles of part-volcanic, part-coral land for you to explore, companies like Tropical Adventures and SoCoHo Land Tours waiting to show you all the best places to go. This includes the Fig Tree Drive rainforest which is about as lush as it ever gets here. The zipline canopy tour is a particularly exhilarating way to experience it. Going on a go-karting adventure with Sweet Wadadli Jungle Rides is another fun way to experience our island. While hikers can enjoy guided walks through Wallings Nature Reserve and challenging climbs up our very own mountain. At 1,320 feet, Boggy Peak is as high as you can get in Antigua without actually taking off. Although you can view it from above on a helicopter trip with CalvinAir Helicopters, and view the nearby volcano on Montserrat, that’s an option as well...
